Madden 21 Do You Agree With The Ability Cap Changes

Madden 21 introduces an important update. This is a concept called ability caps and it is the most notable modification from this year's game for this mode. Ability caps bring more customization options. You will use them to modify how your team behaves on the field. 

 In the previous game, players upgraded and equipped abilities for any of their players. The trick was that only six players, three from offense and three from the defense, could be selected. The change is that each ability costs ability points and there is a cap for offense, defense, and special team abilities. Players will need to decide what abilities to improve as they have a limited number of points. 

 We all know that each ability impacts the game differently. Some are more powerful, while others make a lesser impact. You will notice that each ability has a different cost. The cost will reflect that ability's usefulness. You will also notice different ability costs for the same ability depending on the player archetype. For instance, the red zone dead eye ability costs one point for an improviser quarterback. The escape ability for the same archetype costs three points. A field general quarterback can unlock the hot route master for two points, while the scrambling quarterback will spend four points for it. 

You might wonder what happens to X-Factors and the ability system. The thing that stays the same is that you cannot have more than three of these players per side of the ball. The change is that all default X-Factors are free. The X-Factor variants that may come in the future might have a cost. This will ensure balance. You will decide if you want to use the X-Factor or not. This feature can be toggled on and off. 

Should you want to change the ability points for superstar abilities, you can do so by going directly to the player. The current ability cap is set. The developers are planning to increase the cap throughout the year. Each player can have five individual abilities. Players that have 80 OVR will have tier 1 ability slots. Those who have 85 OVR have tier 2 ability slots. The rest have tier 3 ability slots. 

The developers introduced ability costs because they want to make the metagame more balanced. The ability costs may change throughout the year. The changes might be included in the series updates.
